Other thoughts: Use this player and free Audacity software to convert those old cassettes to digital and invest in some nice headphones. No rewind button.
It WILL play cassettes if you treat it with RESPECT, people. Battery life seemed to last a long time (Energizer Max tested).
Pros: It's cheap. Mine was made in 2009 and came with headphones AND earbuds.Cons: It's cheap.
Auto-stop. Fairly light.
Audio quality is nothing to write home about. : )
There is no rewind button AND it didn't even play tapes properly when I took it out of the package. I had to return it right away.
I would not recommend this product at all because it isn't worth it. The cassette weaves in and out in sound, playing fast one minute, dragging the next and the ear plug headset doesn't stay in my ears.
As I am attending school and like to listen to music while working on homework, I went in search for a new walkman. The AIWA walkman I owned for over 14 years died completely putting me in the position to replace quickly.
Colby was the only walkman that was available to puchase, so I bought it and what a major disappointment. At the time not many walkmans were available, matter of fact I thought with the MP3s and downloads that maybe this had become an obsolete item.
I have many cassettes that are in good working order and I have no desire to discard them. With the economy being as severe as it is, I would think that putting out quality items would be of importance to the manufacturers.clearly it isn't a concern because I see this product is still out there.
Now that I see another AIWA walkman is available I hope the quality remains as I enjoyed with my prior AWIA walkman, I am disappointed that I have to take time to not only search for another walkman, but within a matter of weeks of using, I am having to spend more money.
So I ordered two. I would say up front, that I bought this expecting it to break within a short amount of time. I have ordered one previously and it did just that. However, for the purposes I have, it is fine. Delivers OK sound and is portable enough.
I've had this little unit for about a year and it still performs as good today as it did when I first received it.Coby Electronics Personal AM/FM Stereo Cassette Player
